Wayne G Kelly Bio
The amazing jazz piano artist Wayne Kelly hailing from Australia has been a professional musician for over 30 years. He has played or recorded with international jazz stars including Wynton Marsalis, Rodney Whitaker, Roy Hargrove, Walter Blanding, Marcus Printup, Eric Alexander, Andrew Gander, Dale Barlow, James Morrison and Don Burrows to name a few.....
He has performed overseas for a number of years including residencies at the Venetian Resort in Macao, the Park Hyatt and the Peninsula Hotel in Shanghai, and CJW in Beijing. Wayne is a well-respected and highly experienced Performer.
Wayne for over 5 years and still going strong has a residency at the iconic cafe, bar and restaurant Tilleys in Lyneham ACT Australia.
The Wayne Kelly Trio performed at the international Wangaratta jazz festival in 2018 with award winning Double Bassist Brendan Clarke, and high level drummer Mark Sutton.
He also performed at The International Manly Jazz Festival (May 2019) with world renowned Double Bassist Rodney Whitaker hailing from the USA and remarkable drummer Andrew Dickeson from Sydney, promoting Andrew’s latest Album “Groove” featuring Rodney, Andrew and Wayne which have received rave reviews.
Wayne’s own recordings include “In My quiet hour” (the Wayne Kelly Trio), released in 2005,with 12 original compositions written by Wayne, featuring long-time friends and collaborators of the Trio, the dynamic Ben O’Loghlin double bass and Mark Sutton on drums, also a special guest vocalist the beautiful Gabrielle Birmingham.
Wayne Plays the Duke (Wayne own solo piano arrangements of the music of Jazz Pioneer Duke Ellington) released in 2017.
Wayne has a Bachelor of Music in jazz studies from the Australian National University and a Graduate Diploma in jazz studies also from the Australian National University.
